World of Yo-HoA growing trend lately has been for more digital integrations in board games. From the highly anticipated X-Com board game by designer Eric Lang; to Alchemists, the new hotness out of Essen, it appears that more and more publishers are taking advantage of this digital integration. Even the fantastic Sentinels of the Multiverse has long since let players use their Sentinels Sidekick app to make their games run smoother.

I first heard about World of Yo-Ho this past summer when they released a demo video and I was immediately intrigued. World of Yo-Ho is a fantasy adventure and piracy game on the high seas. Players use their smart phone as their pawn during the game in a way that seems really unique and intriguing.

From the Kickstarter Page:

World of Yo-HoWorld of Yo-Ho’ is a fantasy game of adventure and piracy on the high seas! It’s a new type of gaming experience that combines the tangible and social pleasure of a board game with the interactive and adaptable mechanics of a video game. The game is for 2 to 4 players and features a Large, two part, high quality board that represents the minutely detailed world of Yo-Ho. At the same time, a free downloadable app turns your smartphone into a ship. Simply place your phone on the board and set sail for adventure!

There is a wealth of information and game play videos on the Kickstarter page and it’s absolutely worth checking out if you are intrigued. A $35 pledge will get you all the bones you need for a game of World of Yo-Ho, but a $60 pledge is required if you want extras like Character Sheets and Cardboard Boats. World of Yo-Ho is scheduled to be in backers hands in July of 2015 and you have until Friday, November 28th to become a backer. So head over today and give it a look.
