Board Game Battle Giveaway

It’s been a while since we provided a nice treat for you, our faithful readers. Last July we had a giveaway for our anniversary and we had a lot of fun with it. We didn’t want to have to wait a whole year to give away something cool so we decided to have a giveaway now.

The first problem we had was how to decide what to give away. After much banter, bickering and a few hurt feelings we finally decided to let you guys decide. Enter the Board Game Battle Giveaway. Each of the regular writers here on Board Game Grow chose a game they really love to offer up in the battle. I wouldn’t go so far as to say “favorite game” as that’s almost impossible to choose. So we ended up choosing a game we each love and will always be willing to play. With that in mind, here are the contenders:

7 Wonders (review) – Champion of BGQ Tony
7 Wonders Box CoverWhy I chose 7 Wonders: I love this card game…a whole bunch. Card drafting is a great mechanic that I wish more games incorporated. I love how you have to be flexible and work with what is passed to you. In addition to that, it scales perfectly from 2-7 players and a game can be finished in less than 45 minutes. This makes it easy to play a few games in a row, even if I almost never win! Easily one of my favorite games and I’m always willing to play.

Pandemic (review) – Champion of BGQ Tyler
Pandemic Box CoverWhy I chose Pandemic: Ah Pandemic. Honestly, I hate this game. Every time I sit down to play it I think I have a chance of saving the world and after 45 minutes my dreams are crushed once again. Despite the disappointment of losing most of the time, this game is my favorite game because of the experience of playing it. The game is filled with tension and heartbreaking moments as you work with your fellow players to save the world. I have had more fun and memorable moments playing Pandemic than any other game I have ever played.

Lords of Waterdeep (review) – Champion of BGQ Alex
Lords of Waterdeep Board GameWhy I chose Lords of Waterdeep: As a D&D player, a fan of worker placement games, and a Forgotten Realms devotee, this game is in a sweet spot that overlaps a bunch of my interests. While providing solid game play, Lords of Waterdeep is not as deep as some more brain burner Euros, making it more likely to hit the game table on non-RPG nights.

So now that you know the contenders, you are probably wondering how you can get your hands on one of these great games. Easy! The simplest way is to vote for your favorite. Do that, let us know, and you are automatically entered. No mess, no fuss, you’re in.

Below the voting form is the entry form. You only have to vote and click the option saying you did. There are also some other ways to gain additions entries to win. Feel free to do as many or as few as you like to increase your chances.

The giveaway ends February 6th with the winner chosen shortly after that. Good luck!

  1. I’d love to have a copy of Lords of Waterdeep to play at my own TableTop Day on April 5! Everyone loves this game!

  2. Already have a copy of Lords of Waterdeep, but I had to go with it since I think it’s definitely a better game than Pandemic and I don’t know enough about 7 Wonders to vote for it as “best”.

  3. Pandemic – spent so much time sharing with friends and growing together. Do you think it’s wrong to only play with 3 epidemics? It sure makes our win percentage higher! Good games all, not a bad on in the bunch.

  4. Lords of the Warterdeep is just what I need to keep on my new hobby!!! I have played both Pandemic and 7 wonders….Still didn’t play Lord of Waterdeep…can’t wait to have it!!!

  5. Pandemic is such a great game. The only game outside of my tabletop group I’ll play with my family. The co-op aspect cuts down on those classic family boardgame blowouts! 7 wonders would be cool to check out

  6. Also had to vote for Lords. I have the other two and have Lords of Waterdeep high on my “buy next” list. Love to add it too my collection.

  7. I’ve played a lot of 7 Wonders and love it, but I really like the worker placement / questing combination in Waterdeep and would love to have my own copy!

  8. I voted for Pandemic because it’s the only one that I’ve actually played. I’ve had my eye on the other two though. Either way, if I win I’ll be happy!

  9. A good selection of games, but 7 Wonders has to win I think. Lords of Waterdeep and Pandemic are both classics, and great games to boot, but 7 Wonders just dominates them hands down.

  10. Vote is for pandemic hands down. Both the others are fun games but always thoroughly enjoyed every pandemic game session despite losing more than I like.

  11. Already have 7 Wonders and Pandemic. Would love to win Lords of Waterdeep since it’s near the top of my wish list!

  12. I would love to win 7 Wonders! Pandemic is good also, but I keep hearing that it is similar to Forbidden Island, which I already have.

  13. Hi! Haha spontaneous giveaways are silly and fun! Thanks for supporting your fans! I’d love to try 7 Wonders, but I’m voting for Pandemic

  14. I’ve been dying to order up Lords of Waterdeep, but just haven’t been able to pull the trigger on it yet. Winning this would be awesome! Thanks for the chance!

  15. If Lords of Waterdeep wins and I get a copy of it, I will make a video of me doing my Lords of Waterdeep dance.
